Flying Alone for the First Time ..

Current Status: Nervous, Excited, Scared, Confused .. all mixed together

So im sitting in the airport all by myself waiting for my red eye flight to Boston for orientation Day 1. I have never flown on an airplane by myself ever & adding the fact that I have to explore a state that is totally on the other side of the country doesn't help my feelings either. I've been on trips without my parents when I travelled for MUN East Coast trips, but honestly doing everything completely alone is a whole different feeling. I no longer have the safety net of my parents, an advisor showing me where to go, or the comfort of my friends always being there with me. But I am so ready for the adventure! Going through the whole airport procedure wasn't as hard as I thought it would be because all of the traveling I have done throughout my life. Hopefully it will be this easy for the public transit in Boston. sigh .. Wish me luck!

Wildfox Sample Sale!

It seriously seems like forever since I last blogged about my life. I have just been exploring & having adventures with all my friends as much as I can in California.Today was actually a very exciting day! So, for a very long time I have been wanting Wildfox to be added to my closet because the clothes are the cutest ever! But I haven't got myself to buy that $250 sweater or the $100 shirt from the stores or online, so when I saw that they were having a sample sale in LA, I knew that that trip was a must! I literally woke up at 7 to get ready and be in line before the line formed, but as I walked up at 8:10 the line was already around the Cooper Design building (keeping in mind that the actual sale started at 9). It was like chaos once the building opened because all of the crazy old women who were trying to fight their way up to the Splendid warehouse sale, which had to be in the same building. Actually, there was a lot of sales in that building today; like AG jeans, Big Star, and a lot of local LA designers. Once I was able to push my way up to the third floor of the building, I finally arrived at the Wildfox sample sale. Excited isn't even half of my emotions that went through my body as I was granted entrance into the small WIldfox office space. Like every other sample sale, everything was out of place and all over the floors but honestly scramming and digging through all the clothes in the gigantic piles is part of the fun of going to sample sales! (definitely besides the amazing prices!) I was successful at my trip spending only $80 on a black star sweater and a tan loose dress with a heart in the front (thank god I am still able to fit in kids sizes!) Which would have originally been about $200 in retail stores.. After the sample sale, I went to Wood Spoon; which is a delicious brazilian restaurant in LA. I had chicken coxinha, Brazilian sausage with rice. My parents got a beet salad with a brazilian chicken pot pie, which was also to die for. Overall my summer has been very adventurous and full of success! There hasn't been a day where I haven't done something  productive or fun, so my summer is definitely going the way I want it. Can't wait for tomorrow's adventure!

Newport Adventure

The task of satisfying your cravings to the fullest is hands down the best feeling ever. I am constantly on instagram and yelp trying to find delicious places to eat. Last night I was being spontaneous and decided that I wanted a sprinkles sundae. Sigh .. honestly I know that ice cream doesn't help me in any way, especially because I had mochilato the day before (which was surprisingly good! MUST TRY!). But I told myself that I would work the ice cream off later; which unfortunately did not happen LOL.(might as well start my freshman 15 a season earlier right?) I dragged my best friends all the way to newport beach with me just so I could have my red velvet ice cream with a red velvet cupcake, basically diabetes heaven in a cup. I would say I have a pretty big sweet tooth so Sprinkles Ice Cream was definitely worth the drive for me! After ice cream, we went down to the beach to dip our feet in the disgustingly cold Corona Del Mar water & dream about all the mansions we drove by.  Absolutely my life mission to eventually move down by the beach & own a house everyone wishes they could have! Despite my crying because of my inability & struggle to parallel park and the very steep hill we had to climb, today was definitely a success in my book! I even found my delightfully beautiful Getty Museum lookalike beach home. <3 Can't wait for another success fun summer adventure!

American Apparel Flea Market Heaven!

EEPPP! I have finally popped by American Apparel Factory Flea Market cherry. Ever since I saw that one coolkid wearing an American Apparel zip up jacket in the 6th grade, I knew I would fall in love with this store within an instant. The simplicity and homely feeling with the wear of these beautiful artworks just makes me wish I had all the money in the world to buy every single item in this store. But unfortunately, the price is real and basically the only reason why I can't have my closet full of American Apparel. Its so sad how the printed numbers on the price tag just rip my heart and soul away from them. Always waiting for incredible sales and discounts were becoming miracles that would never happen in the stores, so when I found out about the factory flea market, I knew I had to go and check it out! Of course I learn from the best, so I took my mom's yelping skills and looked up all the info of the factory's do's and dont's. The AA flea market is just something that you have to make a judgement of. Honestly, I didn't mind the no air conditioning and factory dirty floors because I was just in love with the discounts and the quality of the clothes. The shopping carts also help with the pile of clothes that you plan on trying on in their dressing rooms. (YES! AA is one the of only flea markets that I have been to that have dressing rooms available. Going on a Monday, it was definitely not busy at all and I was amazed how easily I was able to find my sizes. Usually, the stores run out of the XS or the 24 waist items so fast that when I go and look for my size they aren't there, so if you often find yourself in that situation, go & check out the flea market! The discounts are so real and make the clothing some what more affordable. If you are in love with American Apparel clothes, the $30 high waisted easy jean shorts will seem like heaven to you too! American Apparel is most definitely not a cheap Forever 21 or Foreign Exchange, but their local feeling, love, and great material are worth your investment.

Maui Days 3-7: See you later Maui

Day 3 was actually very adventurous. I finally learned how to surf! Watching the surf lessons before mine made me confident that I could stand up on my board and ride the small little waves too, but for some reason as I was dragging my surf board out onto the blazing hot sand, my conscience hit me. All my confidence was left on the sand and as I was dragged into the ocean by my cool hawaiian accent instructor, I was obligated to try standing on my board and riding a wave once. I am actually really glad that I actually went out because honestly it gives you a sense of rush and success when you successfully ride all the way to shore. Day 4 just consisted of going to my family's favorite local beach,: burning our pasty gangsta bodies, watching the local hawaiians skim board, and swimming with the turtles. Prior to going to Big Beach, we went to the Fairmont hotel in Wailea to pick up the shoyu chicken noodles along with the mango chicken on baguette bread. YUMM!! Day 5 was snorkeling day! My mom actually changed it up this trip and arranged a boat trip to Lanai to go snorkeling and cliff jumping! I saw turtles and a variety of fish, however the highlight of our snorkeling trip was swimming with all the wild dolphins! Definitely an experience that deserves the label of AMAZING! The dolphins weren't like the ones at SeaWorld, they were very in their own confortable environment showing off to all of the people on the snorkeling trip. Day 6 was one of those relaxing days. We rented cabanas at the hotel and enjoyed the sun hitting our skin as we ate pineapples and drank tons of water.  It was a nice way to enjoy the Maui weather that I will forever remember. Day 7 was bittersweet. Bitter because I know this might be the last family Maui trip that I will have with my family for a long time because I will be going off to college far away from home. Sweet because I know my summer adventures are going to start with all my friends at home! If you have never been to Maui, you should definitely go! You will not be disappointed with all the nice people, beautiful weather and amazing food. See you later Maui! Thank you for treating us out with all your love <3 Hopefully see you soon! Now.. I am back home hanging out with all my friends, getting ready for college, and attempting everything on my summer bucket list!
